All-new 2020 Toyota Highlander Arrives in Fort Collins

2020 Toyota Highlander
Get ready – the all-new 2020 Toyota Highlander is coming to Pedersen Toyota Fort Collins. The completely redesigned SUV boasts a more modern design, enhanced technology and an upgraded powertrain.

2020 Toyota Highlander

For 2020, the Highlander has been redesigned from the ground up. The large SUV is offered in five trim levels: L, LE, XLE, Limited and Platinum.

Newly sculpted body lines give the 2020 Highlander a more athletic shape. The SUV is larger, too, gaining 2.36 inches (60mm) in length over the outgoing model. And, for the first time ever, big 20-inch wheels are available.

The interior has been revamped as well. Padded surfaces and a healthy dose of stitching give the cabin a more premium feel.

Plus, there’s room inside for everyone and everything. L and LE models have a second-row bench seat, providing room for eight passengers. Meanwhile, XLE, Limited and Platinum models have second-row captain’s chairs and room for seven occupants. Cargo dimensions now measure 16.1 cu. ft. of space behind the third-row; 73.3 cu. ft. of space with both rows of rear seats folded flat.

Comfort and convenience

All Highlander models offer an impressive list of amenities. The entire lineup gets a touchscreen multimedia center with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Base L models are well-equipped with standard features like three-zone climate control and a 4.2-inch multi-information instrument display. Buyers can continue to move up the ladder until they reach the top-tier Platinum model, which comes with equipment like a head-up display and a panoramic sunroof.

The 2020 Toyota Highlander can be had with either a V6 engine or a hybrid system. Both options employ advanced technology for next-level performance and efficiency.

Buyers who choose the traditional engine get a 3.5L V6 (295 hp, 263 lb.-ft.) mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Although front-wheel drive comes standard, three different all-wheel drive systems are available. Off-road aficionados will want to check out Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD with Multi-terrain Select.

As for the hybrid, it mates a 2.5L four-cylinder engine with two electric motors. Total combined system output is 240 hp. Hybrid models also have an additional motor in the back that provides all-wheel drive capability. Drivers can fine-tune the SUV’s performance via selectable drive modes (NORMAL, ECO and SPORT).

When properly equipped, the V6-powered Highlander provides an impressive 5,000 lb. towing capacity.*

Buyers will find the latest driver assistance functions packaged together in the Toyota Safety Sense Suite. The bundle includes:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  • Automatic High Beam Assist
  • Lane Tracing Assist
  • Road Sign Assist

Additionally, all Highlander models come with a backup camera. Platinum models get upgraded to a standard 360-degree Bird’s Eye View Camera.

*Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. Do not exceed any Weight Ratings and follow all instructions in your Owner’s Manual. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. “Added vehicle equipment” includes additional standard/optional equipment and accessories added by the manufacturer, dealers, and/or vehicle owners. The only way to be certain of your vehicle’s exact curb weight is to weigh your vehicle without passengers or cargo.
