2018 Toyota Sequoia
Named after Sequoia sempervirens, the massive redwoods that grow on the West Coast, the Toyota Sequoia has plenty in common with the tallest trees on earth. Both are built sturdy, are extremely hardy, and both are a pleasure to look at. The 2018 Toyota Sequoia has been updated with a new front grille and lower bumper, LED headlights, fog lights and upgraded exterior trim. Cabin upgrades include new Optitron gauges, a 4.2-inch TFT Multi-Information Display screen, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The Sequoia now joins other Toyota models with standard Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P), which includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Alert with Sway Warning System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with full stop technology, and Automatic High Beams. In addition to the TSS-P Standard Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are now standard on Sequoia as well.
The 2018 Sequoia provides families with roominess, luxury, off-road capability, and a robust towing capacity. Buyers can choose from SR5, Limited and Platinum packages with RWD or 4WD drivetrains. New for 2018 is a TRD Sport package between the SR5 and Limited, featuring Midnight Black grille insert and mirror caps, 20-inch black sport wheels, and black finish badging.
Aimed at Active Families
Sequoia offers plenty of room for your family to stretch-out with three row seating. The independent rear suspension is not only key to Sequoia’s smooth ride it also allows for adult-sized space in the third row.
A Powerful Engine in a Chassis Built for Towing
Sequoia is powered by the proven DOHC 5.7 L i-FORCE V8, featuring dual independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and an Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS), which develops 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque delivered through a six-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission with a Tow-Haul mode that modifies shift points for optimal towing performance.
The 2018 Sequoia can tow up to 7,400 lbs., depending on model grade and equipment. The Sequoia’s standard tow hitch is integrated into the frame as a single unit for added strength and durability. Standard Trailer Sway Control uses the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to help counteract forces that can contribute to trailer sway. A standard rearview camera displayed on the 6.1-inch high-resolution touchscreen display provides an expanded field of view when parking or positioning a trailer.
The available Multi-Mode 4WD system features a lockable TORSEN limited-slip center differential that intelligently distributes torque to the front and rear wheels as needed, along with a two-speed transfer case that provides a low range for tackling steep off-road trails or steep boat ramps. Low range can be engaged while driving, while the center differential locks with the push of a button. Up front are 13.9-inch ventilated disc brakes, which utilize four-piston brake calipers, while 13.6-inch ventilated disc brakes are installed in the rear.
A Selection of Trim Levels
The Sequoia SR5 sets the stage as one of the best-equipped vehicles in its class. The new TRD Sport grade offers upgrades that include Bilstein shocks and TRD front and rear anti-sway bars. The Sequoia Limited adds functionality and convenience with a power rear liftgate with sliding window, power folding and reclining 60/40 split third-row seat and 20-inch alloy wheels.
